ABOUT US

Abacus Homecare is a Domiciliary Care Agency which has been established in 2009 to respond to the needs of Service Users requiring care and support in their own homes.  We offer personal care, domestic tasks and home & garden maintenance services.

Service Users are those who, because of increasing age or disability, find it difficult to cope with domestic responsibilities or their own personal care needs.

We also recognise that vulnerable people often worry who they should trust to enter their home, for this reason, we employ Workers for all aspects of our service in the same way, carrying out the same level of reference and background checks including checks against the Protection of Vulnerable adults list and Criminal Records checks.  We carry out all of our own recruitment, staff selection.

Abacus Homecare is owned and ran by Michelle Sheridan, Sam Sheridan & Katie Sheridan.  Between us we have many years of experience of running a business and the care industry. We also have a fantastic team to help us provide the service.  Service Users are assured that Michelle, Sam & Katie are fully involved in the business and constantly monitor the service provided.  We have strength areas and these are capitalised on by us focusing on different areas of the business.

Abacus Homecare provide the service to both the private and public sectors.

Mission Statement

Abacus Homecare aim to consistently deliver high quality personal care to vulnerable people wishing to remain in the comfort of their home.

Our services are supplied by a well-trained, thoroughly vetted and supported workforce.

We promise equal commitment to both the welfare of our Service Users and our Workers as we recognise that we cannot have one without the other.

Attention to detail is a key part of quality assurance and we promise that the level of consideration given to the delivery of our care / support services will be extended to our maintenance services.

Aims and Objectives

Abacus homecare aims to provide care and support for people who cannot wholly look after themselves. We provide our service in your own home, at times convenient to you, and in ways you find most agreeable.

We have sound principles for the way we run our service. Central to these is our belief that the rights of service users are paramount.

Our Principles

  • To be Service User led. We aim to provide personal care and support in ways that have positive outcomes for Service Users.
  • To ensure that we are fit for our purpose. We examine our operations constantly to ensure that we are successfully achieving our stated aims and purposes. We solicit feedback about our service for our own quality standards and to comply with Industry Standards. Feedback is sought from all stakeholders, including Service Users and their friends and relatives.
  • To work for the comprehensive welfare of Service Users. We aim to provide for each Service User a complete package of care / support that contributes to his or her overall personal and healthcare needs and preferences. We will co-operate with other services and professionals to help to maximise each Service User’s independence and to ensure as fully as possible the Service User’s participation in the community.
  • To meet assessed needs. Before we provide services, we ensure that a potential Service User’s needs and preferences are thoroughly assessed by one of our trained and experienced staff. We aim to ensure that the service provides the assessed needs of each Service User, that needs are reassessed as frequently as necessary, and that the care and support provided have the flexibility to respond to changing needs or requirements.
  • To provide quality services. We are committed to providing quality services and to continuous improvement in the level of care and support we offer.
  • To employ a quality workforce. Standards for our Managers and Workers are based on the national occupational standards for the care industry set by the National Training Organisation, Skills for Care.
