Our Story

Abacus was set up by Michelle Sheridan, with a vision to make sure that the people she looked after received the best possible support they could.  That instead of focussing on the things that individuals couldn’t do, the care focussed on things that people could do, built on their strengths, empowered them to do things for themselves and ensured that their independence remained intact at all times. 

She wanted people to feel like they still mattered, that the lives they live are still as enriched as they have always lived and to make sure that this was a focus to the care she wanted to provide. 

Our Mission

Abacus has grown into a successful, reputable care company that aims to go the extra mile for the people we look after.  Family members are safe in the knowledge that their loved ones are being looked after with compassion, empathy and integrity and are being treated as if they are part of our family.

We invest heavily into the training, development and wellbeing of our staff.  Knowing that if we ensure that our staff are well looked after, they will work to the best of their ability to ensure that your loved ones, or you, are looked after well.

We focus on quality and are continuously looked at ways to improve our business.  Having this attention to detail to the way we look ensures that we stay humble, grounded and will always strive to ensure that our care is of the highest possible standard.

I just wanted to say a massive thankyou to you all for everything you did for my grandad. All the team cared for him so well, not just by being professional and doing their duties but by being genuinely compassionate and caring.

Finding the right care for you or your loved one

We understand how difficult the process of finding the the right home care for your family member can be so our process is simple.

1. Talk to us

We are always here to have a chat about what we can do to support you or your loved one.  Any questions big or small, please contact us and we will guide you through the process, discuss the basic requirements of care and then look to book in an assessment.

2. Book an Assessment

We will arrange a visit to come to your/your loved ones home to discuss in detail what you require.  We will have a friendly chat with you about the support you need, how we can achieve this by working together.  We will also do a simple assessment of the home to identify any areas of undue risk to you. 

3. Develop a Person Centred Support Plan

After our detailed talk with you and/or your loved one we will then develop your person centred support plan.  This will form a basis on how you want your support provided and how our care staff will deliver this.  The support plan is continuously reviewed and changed to make sure that it continues to meet your needs.
